Q1. What are the fundamental differences between ceramic scissors and ordinary metal scissors?
A: The main difference lies in the material of the blade tip. The ceramic scissors have a blade tip made of zirconia ceramic, which is highly hard, rust-free, non-magnetic, and does not transfer flavors when cutting food; while the metal scissors are prone to rust and will leave a metallic taste when cutting cooked food, and their hardness is lower than that of ceramic.
Q2. What can ceramic scissors cut? Are there any usage restrictions?
A: Scissors: Suitable for cutting soft/middle-hard items such as vegetables, fruits, cooked food, noodles, paper, fabric, flower branches, etc.
Prohibition: Do not cut metal wires, bones, nut shells, hard plastics, etc. as these can cause the blade tip to break or fracture.
Q3. Are the blades of the ceramic scissors prone to breaking? What precautions should be taken during daily use?
A: Ceramic knife heads have high hardness but are brittle. They are not likely to break during normal cutting. Avoid dropping or colliding them with hard objects. Also, do not place the scissors directly at areas where they are prone to slipping, such as the edges of the stove or countertop.
Q4. Do ceramic scissors need to be sharpened? What should be done if they become blunt?
A: Ceramic scissors have extremely high hardness. They rarely become blunt when cutting food at home, and their service life is much longer than that of metal scissors. If there is a slight dullness after long-term use, it is necessary to send it back to the brand for professional sharpening. Do not attempt to sharpen it yourself using a metal sharpening stone.
Q5. Can ceramic scissors come into contact with high temperatures? Can they be boiled with boiling water or disinfected in a disinfection cabinet?
A: The blade tip can withstand short periods of high temperature. It can be rinsed with boiling water or disinfected in the low-temperature compartment of the disinfection cabinet. It is strictly prohibited to place the scissors in open flames, in the oven, or leave them in boiling water for a long time. This is to prevent the handle from deforming and the ceramic blade tip from cracking due to thermal expansion and contraction.
Q6. Will the handle of the ceramic scissors peel off or crack? How should it be maintained?
A: The handles of regular ceramic scissors are usually made of food-grade PP/TPR material, which is not prone to peeling or cracking. Avoid contact with oil stains and prolonged soaking. Do not use hard steel wool to scrub the handles. Just wipe them dry and place them in a dry place.
Q7. Can ceramic scissors be used to cut baby's food? Is it safe?
A: It's perfect. The ceramic blade does not release heavy metals or rust. When cutting baby food (such as meat puree, fruit puree, and vegetable dices), it doesn't transfer flavors. The blade is of moderate sharpness and, combined with the rounded blade head design, it makes baby food preparation safer for the baby.
Q8. Can the blade tip of the ceramic scissors still be used if it is chipped? Are there any repair methods available?
A: If there is a small crack on the blade tip, it is strictly prohibited to continue using it. It may cause hand injuries and lead to poor cutting performance. The ceramic material is highly brittle and there is no traditional repair method after the crack occurs. It is recommended to replace the blade tip (some brands support replacing the blade tip separately) or to simply replace it with a new one.
Q9. Can ceramic scissors be used by both left and right hands? Does it have a non-slip design?
A: Most household ceramic scissors are designed with symmetrical handles, allowing both left and right hands to use them. The handles are often equipped with anti-slip patterns or soft rubber coating to prevent slipping during cutting. Some styles even come with finger ring clasps, making the grip more secure.
Q10. How should ceramic scissors be cleaned? Can they be washed in a dishwasher?
A: It is recommended to wash by hand: Rinse the blade and handle with clean water, wipe the oil stains with a soft sponge, and then dry them. It is not recommended to put it in the dishwasher. The high-pressure water flow, high temperature and detergents in the dishwasher can easily cause the handle to age and the connection between the blade and the handle to loosen.
